The DSAH office The
address of the society is the same as the address of the secretary. DSAH
Opening hours: Monday and Wednesday 17-20 PM DSAH (The Danish Society of Purebred Arabian Horses) was founded in 1967. The purpose of the Society is to promote the breeding and the use of the Arabian horse. The DSAH uses WAHO standards to define the purebred Arabian horse: A purebred Arabian horse is one which appears in any purebred Arabian stud book or register listed by WAHO as acceptable. This means that a purebred ox Arabian horse can be traced back in all lines to horses that are internationally accepted as original Arabian horses. DSAH is a member of WAHO - World Arabian Horse Organization ECAHO - European Conference of Arab Horse Organizations LU - The Danish Committee of Horsebreeding To define the purebred Arabian horse, DSAH use the standards of WAHO A purebred Arabian horse is a horse listed in any register or studbook accepted by WAHO This means, that A Purebred Arabian Horse can be
traced back to the internationally accepted horses (original
Arabian horses) Stud books The DSAH is authorized by The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration to register purebred Arabians and to produce and publish the studbooks. DSAH published its first stud book in November 1967. It contained the first 29 purebred ox Arabians. Ox is a term used in some European countries signifying purebred Arabian. At that time, all Arabian breeds were in the same registry and stud book. This continued until 1979 when the Society was divided into two sections: DSAH ox and DSAH oo. Today, DSAH oo Arabians are registered by the National Danish Committee of Horsebreeding. As of 1997, The DSAH ox had published five studbooks for Arabian horses and in 1999 the number of registered horses reached 3000. Obviously, this does not mean that there are 3000 living, registered Arabian horses in Denmark since some have died and many have been exported all round the world. Since 1999, the DSAH has used DNA testing and detailed descriptions of colour and markings in order to make the registration process as secure as possible. From 1981 – 1998, freeze markings were used and from 1985 to 1998 blood type registration was compulsory. Bloodlines Information about the tail female line is included in all pedigrees; this information is of historical interest as many of the old strains represent an inheritance that should not be forgotten or ignored. In the future, it is not likely that one will be able to find Arabians of such old bloodlines in the Orient. For many people, this information about the tail female line is a path towards finding information about the history of individual horses. The men and women who brought the first Arabians to Europe and America, made great sacrifices and often undertook dangerous journeys, and they should not be forgotten either. Their names can be found in the many books on this subject. DSAH's 40th anniversary Honorary Life Members In 2007, the DSAH celebrated its 40h anniversary, and on that and two previous occasion, five honorary life members have been appointed by the Society. Mr. Erik Lindgren, posthumously Baroness Bille Brahe Selby, posthumously Mrs. Anna Aaby Mr. Peder Hoffmann Mr. Per Roland They were all of great significance to the Society.
